Roboglobal Robotics camp is a high tech interactive camp where kids and teens learn how to construct, code and compete with a robot of their own design in small teams.


Students will be able to:

  • Define a robot in their own words
  • Construct robots using VEX or LEGO instructions and modify with their own designs
  • Program and code using appropriate programming language to make the robot go forward, reverse, and make various turns
  • Use proportional math to improve robot precision like stopping at a given distance
  • Use engineering process to plan and solve a problem using math
  • Compete in small teams design in a FINAL Challenge



Build a Bridge

Can you build a bridge with craft sticks or newspaper?
The “Popsicle Bridge” lesson explores how engineering has impacted the development of bridges over time, including innovative designs and the challenge of creating bridges that become landmarks for a city. Students work in teams of “engineers” to design and build their own bridge out of glue and popsicle sticks or newspaper. They test their bridges using weights, evaluate their results, and present their findings to the class.

Launch rocket: What is hang time? What makes the best rocket?
Water rockets are an excellent tool to learn about rockets and Newton’s Laws.
Students will follow the engineering design process to: (1) design and build an air-powered rocket that can hit a distant target; (2) launch their rocket using a balloon; (3) improve their rocket based on testing results; and (4) try to consistently hit a target with their rockets.

Save an egg! Build a soft landing
Students will work in groups of 3 or 4 to design and build an egg drop device. The students will be given a budget and defined list of materials that they can ‘purchase’ to protect their egg.
Egg drop devices simulate parachutes and other similar features seen in nature, such as the helicopter seeds that are dropped from some trees. The process of slowing decent to resist the force of gravity has been used in a number of instances in history, and continues to be an important science – especially currently around emergency aid and transportation of goods to inaccessible areas.
